The second-hand shopping app has updated its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel but did not contact every member regarding the update. Online Platforms Reaction Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a different size category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification. The platform stated the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces. They have suggested members to check their listings and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction. Measurement Approach Updates Earlier, the measurements included one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10. The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18. User Experiences Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates. Another user, from Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she said. Required Changes Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing". "Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she stated. Marketplace Information The platform boasts over 100 million users, with 18 million British users. It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop. This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: last year, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
